Our Consultants
Rena began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2023. Having over 30 years of experience in education, she is currently involved in private consulting work as an Educational Consultant, Lead Faculty of the Master of Education Program and an Assistant Professor for Brewton Parker Christian University, an adjunct professor with Thomas University and does contractual work for Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). Previously, she worked with GaDOE as a School Effectiveness Specialist, a School Improvement Director for Savannah Chatham School District, a Curriculum Director for Coffee County School District, and a School Improvement Specialist with First District RESA. She has worked on multiple projects throughout the state including curriculum auditing, Reading First, Georgia Standards, Balanced Leadership, gifted and reading endorsements, and technology initiatives. Rena received her doctorate and specialist degrees from Nova Southeastern University and her Reading Specialist degree from Georgia Southern University.
JoAnn Brown began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2003 after accumulating over 25 years of combined experience in education as a teacher, an assistant principal, and a principal at the elementary school level.
JoAnn developed GLISI’s Rising Stars Program which effectively trained 600 aspiring leaders throughout the state, provided oversight for the development of two online courses of Organization Leadership and Law and Ethics for Gwinnett County, and has supported strategic planning and aspiring leaders programs statewide.
JoAnn holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Florida, an M.A. in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of North Florida, an M.A. in Gifted Education from the University of South Florida, and a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida.
Samantha began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2023. She has dedicated more than 30 years of service to Georgia’s public education system. Prior to serving as Superintendent of the Newton County School System, she held multiple district
executive roles and served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Samantha was named Georgia’s Superintendent of the Year in 2020 and one of four National Finalists for Superintendent of the Year. She has received numerous other honors,
including awards from the University of Georgia, the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL), the Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA), and has been recognized by elected GA officials. Samantha currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of West Georgia and has served on numerous state and local boards. Samantha holds an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership and Administration from Georgia College & State University, an M.Ed. from the University of West Georgia, and a B.A. in English from Marywood University.
Jolie began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2022. Bringing 28 years of experience in education, Jolie has extensive experience in School Leadership, Leadership Development, and Human Resources Services. Her career in education began as a teacher and coach in Crawford County Schools. Next, she was a principal, assistant principal, coach, and teacher in Houston County Schools. Most recently, she has served as Executive Director of Human Resources, Director of Leadership Development, and Principal in Henry County Schools. Jolie began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2022. She is an NAESP-National Certified Principal Mentor and is currently on the Board of Directors for Leadership Henry. She earned an Ed.D. in Leadership from Argosy University, an Ed.S. in Administration and Supervision from Georgia College and State University, an M.Ed. in Leadership and Supervision and an M.Ed. in Health and PE from Georgia College and State University, and a B.S. in Education from Georgia Southern University.
Lawrence began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2025. He brings nearly two decades of experience in public education, having served in a variety of leadership roles, including Chief Impact Officer, Assistant Superintendent, and CEO of a college and career academy. Lawrence began his career as a high school counselor in Clarke County, Georgia. His leadership has been instrumental in developing district-wide strategic plans, driving policy reform, and cultivating partnerships with local businesses, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations. Lawrence also consults with district and school leaders, providing training in decision-making frameworks, risk assessment, policy development, and navigating complex situations. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Policy and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Georgia, as well as an M.S.Ed. in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Broad Fellow Alumni and a graduate of Harvard’s Institute for Superintendents and District Leaders.
Dave Howland joined GLISI’s team of consultants in 2021 with almost two decades of experience in education. Dave has served as a teacher, the founding principal of a charter high school, and as the Managing Director of External Relations for a charter network that educates over 5,200 students in the City of Atlanta. Currently, Dave also serves as the Executive Director of Teach for America Metro Atlanta where he and his team work to recruit, select, train, and place new teachers across the Metro Atlanta region. Dave holds an M.Ed in Educational Leadership from National Louis University and a B.A. in English from the University of Rochester.
Donna began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2022. Bringing over 30 years of experience from various roles in education, Donna is currently a Lead Evaluator for Western Governors University and an Adjunct Professor for Educational Leadership at Thomas University. She also served as an Assistant Superintendent, Principal, and Assistant Principal in Gwinnett County Public Schools, following her tenure as a Teacher and Instructional Lead Teacher with DeKalb County Schools. She also provides Executive Coaching for Principals and Principal Supervisors in districts across the state. Donna holds an Ed.D. in Educational Technology from Boise State University, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia, an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from Emory University, and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Florida State University.
Nancy Martin began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2016. Her 35 years of experience as an educator began with 11 years of classroom teaching experience and include time serving as a middle school assistant principal, middle and high school principal, and assistant/area superintendent in Gwinnett County Public Schools.
Nancy holds an Ed.S. and M.Ed. from the University of Georgia and a B.A. in Education from Emory University.
Ayesha began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2025. She brings over 27 years of experience in education, having served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, director of instruction, assistant superintendent and director of professional learning across Maryland, North Carolina, and New York. Throughout her career, Ayesha has developed and facilitated professional learning programs for new teachers, teacher leaders engaged in school improvement and equity implementation, and has coached principals and district-level content area coordinators. Ayesha is currently the CEO and Founder of McArthur Coaching and Consulting that partners with school districts, government agencies, and community-based organizations to design equity-centered learning experiences and advance sustainable change. Ayesha holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University, an Ed.M. in Curriculum and Teaching from Columbia University, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Teaching from Columbia University.
Mildred McCoy joined GLISI’s team of consultants in 2011 after completing a 30-year career in education, during which time she served as a teacher, a counselor, a principal, and a director of professional learning. Since 2011, Mildred has also worked with Clayton County Public Schools as a leadership coach.
Mildred holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Argosy University, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Troy State University, an M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of West Georgia, and a B.S. in English Communications from Mississippi Valley State University.
Marketa began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2023. She is an educational leader with a rich background that includes principal, assistant principal, literacy coach, and teacher roles. Marketa has a strong passion for supporting diverse groups of students and staff. Currently, Dr. Myers serves as the Director of Leadership Development for Gwinnett County Public Schools, where her goal is to help every individual reach their highest potential. In addition to holding a certification in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia, she holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum Studies from Georgia Southern University and an M.A. in Teaching as well as a B.A. in History from the University of South Carolina.
Tony Pickett joined GLISI as a consultant in 2020. Tony is a former teacher and administrator with over 35 years of service in Georgia.
He began his career as a CTAE teacher for Rockdale County Schools. He then transitioned to Henry County Schools where he held positions as CTAE Coordinator, Director of Administrative Services, and Assistant to the Superintendent. In these roles he provided district leadership in curriculum, instruction and assessment; operations and school safety; policy development and legal compliance; communications and community relations; and strategic planning and system improvement.
Tony holds an Ed.S. from University of West Georgia, a M.Ed. from Georgia State University, and a B.S. from Georgia Southern College.
Ty began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2020. He has 30 years of experience in education as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and executive director of teaching and learning. Prior to becoming a Performance Coach, Ty collaborated with GLISI for six years at both the school and district level to implement school improvement strategies and build capacity in teacher leadership as the driving force for change. Ty has also collaborated extensively with the Schlechty Center for School Improvement in Louisville, KY in the areas of student engagement and designing quality work for students. Ty holds an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership and an M.Ed. from Jacksonville State University.
Felecia began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2021. She has over 34 years of combined experience in education as an elementary teacher, a middle school teacher, a K-12 mathematics coordinator, an assistant principal and principal at the elementary level, and provost for a K-12 private school. She has served as an educational consultant in teaching mathematics, executive coaching, and leadership training.
Felecia holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University, an M.A. in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of West Georgia, and a B.A. in Middle Grades Education from Georgia State University.
Wandy Taylor began working with the GLISI team of consultants in 2016 after completing 22 years as an educator in public school settings in Georgia and South Carolina.
During her 15-year tenure in Gwinnett County Public Schools, Wandy served as a school counselor, an assistant principal, and 8 years as a principal.
Wandy holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University, an Ed.S. in Educational Administration from the University of West Georgia, a M.Ed. in School Counseling from South Carolina State University, and a B.A. from the University of South Carolina.
Jean Triplett joined GLISI’s consultant team in 2018. She has 43 years of combined experience in education as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and Assistant Superintendent of Morgan County Schools.
Before onboarding as a consultant, Jean collaborated with GLISI for seven years to embed effective practices into the way her school district approaches its school improvement efforts and leverages teacher leadership as a key driver in the change process.
Jean holds an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership and an M.Ed. from the University of Georgia.
Georgia Wilson began serving as a consultant for GLISI in 2006. With over 30 years of experience in education, teaching at both the middle grades and high school level and serving nearly a decade as a professional learning coordinator, Georgia is a skilled trainer in instruction and educational leadership.
In her years as a GLISI Consultant, Georgia has worked with school and district leaders in GLISI’s Power of 100 Districts, redesigned GLISI’s coaching model, and provided training to over 400 GLISI-trained leadership performance coaches.
Georgia holds an Ed.S. in Administration and Supervision from the University of West Georgia, an M.A. in Teaching from Wesleyan University, and a B.A. from LeMoyne-Owens College.
Pat began working with GLISI as a consultant in 2023. She has more than 40 years in education as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at the elementary and middle school levels. Currently, she serves as a District School Effectiveness Coordinator and Tribunal Hearing Officer for the Houston County School District. Since 2018, Pat has coached new principals across elementary, middle, and high levels across the state of Georgia. Pat works with GAEL and GAESP as an executive coach for school leaders. In addition, she is an adjunct professor for Piedmont University. Pat earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University, an Ed.S. in Elementary
Education and Educational Leadership from GA Southwestern, an M.Ed. from the
University of Georgia in Early Childhood Education, and a B.S. from Georgia Southern University in Early Childhood Education.
What does a consultant do?
Consultants are contracted by GLISI to lead our partners towards higher performance by asking the right questions, offering targeted and specific feedback, and sharing knowledge relevant to the unique challenges our partners face.
Are consultants compensated for the work?
Yes. Compensation varies based on the scope of work and reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses, including transportation, lodging and meals.
